Men's Lacrosse Releases 2013 Schedule
MILTON, Mass. – This spring, the Colonels’ men’s lacrosse team will compete in 16 regular-season games, splitting them right down the middle with eight Commonwealth Coast Conference games and eight non-league games. The season opener will be at home on February 26, 2013 at 3 p.m. when the Mariners of Mitchell College will be coming to town.

Aside from the early season opener in February and a contest against conference foe Endicott College late in the month, March will be comprised of the non-conference portion of the season. Once again Curry will face off against Mount Ida College in the Frostbite Classic on March 2 in Newton, Mass. The following Tuesday, the University of Southern Maine Huskies travel to Katz Field when both teams will pay tribute to the victims of Sandy Hook with the game starting at 4 p.m.

Over spring break the team will travel to Purchase, N.Y. for a game against Manhattanville College on March 13 at 1 p.m.  The Colonels are hoping this game can serve as a “home away from home” game for those players hailing from New York, expecting to have a big crowd of Curry supporters. On the second Sunday of break, Curry will host Norwich University in the inaugural “Harp and Eagle Game” on March 17, where the teams will honor the service of Irish-Americans in the Civil War.

After break, the Colonels will play a pair of games against in-state rivals when they host Salem State on Wednesday, March 20 at 4 p.m. and travel to Paxton, Mass. to battle Anna Maria on Saturday, March 23 at 12 p.m.

On March 27, Curry will travel to Endicott College for the first conference game of the year. This game will be a rematch of the ECAC Tournament semi-final game last year when the Gulls were the eventual ECAC champions. That Saturday, March 30, the Colonels will travel to Bangor, Maine to play Husson University, who they beat in the ECAC Tournament to reach the semi-finals. Curry and Husson have faced off three times in the past two years and so far Curry leads the series, 3-0.

As the calendar turns to April the meat of the Colonels' schedule unfolds. On Wednesday April 3, Curry will look to avenge last season’s 12-8 loss to Gordon College when they host a 4 p.m. face off at Katz Field. That Saturday, 2012 CCC Tournament Finalist Roger Williams University will host the visiting Colonels in Bristol, R.I. at 3 p.m.

The following week, fellow Boston-area school and CCC rival Wentworth Institute of Technology will travel to Milton (April 10) for a 4 p.m. start.  The weekend game will have Curry on the road Saturday, April 13 when they square off against Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.  The game will have an early start at 11:30 a.m. as the Curry women will play at 2:30 p.m. that day as part of a doubleheader.

In the last road game of the regular season, the Colonels will play their second night game of the year when they travel to Newport, R.I. to face the Seahawks of Salve Regina at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16.

The last two games of the regular season will both be played in Milton, Mass. at friendly Katz Field.

On Saturday April 20, Curry will host Western New England, the 2012 Commonwealth Coast Conference Champions, at 1:30 p.m.  This Saturday doubleheader, with the women playing at 11 a.m., serves as a great day to invite alumni and friends of both the men’s and women’s programs back to campus for Alumni Day. A barbeque will take place between games, and a men’s alumni game will follow the 1:30 contest.

On Wednesday April 24, the Colonels will host the Nor’easters of the University of New England at 4 p.m. for Senior Day. This will be the last regular season home game for the graduating seniors and likely to be a battle as the Nor’easters will be looking to avenge last year’s last-second loss to the Colonels.

Curry finished 10-8 last season and advanced to the ECAC Tournament semi-finals. The Colonels return All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first-team performer Joe Natale, as well as Andrew Navoni and John Castellano, who were named to the honorable mention team. Inside Lacrosse Magazine also named Natale to its preseason all-conference team for this spring.
