Men's Lacrosse Tripped Up By WNEC, 17-7, in TCCC Opener
MILTON, Mass. – The Western New England College Golden Bears defeated the Curry College Colonels 17-7 in a Friday afternoon The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) matchup.  Golden Bears' senior attacker Joe O’Keefe (Branford, CT) led all scorers with 2 goals and 2 assists.  With the win the Golden Bears improve to 2-1 while the Colonels slip to 2-2. 

Demetrios Kringas (Sleepy Hollow, NY) opened up the scoring for the Golden Bears (2-1) with an unassisted goal at 9:17 of the 1st quarter. The game remained close throughout the period before the visiting team struck again. This time it was Corrigan Harreys (Deep River, CT), connecting on a goal, assisted by Joe Johnson (Boston, MA). Senior Mike Santare (South Salem, NY) would soon make the score 3-0.

Curry freshman attacker Connor Arnold (Clifton Park, NY) would reduce the lead to two on a goal assisted by senior John O'Donnell (Middleton, MA). O’Keefe would begin the scoring in the 2nd quarter on an assisted goal from freshmen Justin McKinney (Niskayuna, NY). 

Curry’s Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, Md.) tied for the scoring lead on the Colonels with two goals matching Arnold’s two, while Andrew Navoni (Natick, MA), had a goal and an assist. Harreys would be second in scoring for the visiting team with three goals behind O’Keefe.

Junior Michael Hibbard (North Chelmsford, Mass.) made 31 saves in the loss, while the Golden Bears junior goalie, Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT), turned aside 17 shots in the victory.

The Colonels will travel to play Husson College at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17.  The Golden Bears will play Nazareth College at a neutral site in Norwalk, Conn. on Monday the 14th at 4:00 p.m.
