MLAX Already Preparing For 2010 Season

The 2010 Men’s Lacrosse team is eager to get back on the field. This year’s team is looking to move up in the rankings in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), compete for a conference championship, and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. During the fall, the team began preparing for the spring season by holding a non-traditional fall season, culminating with a round-robin scrimmage on Columbus Day Weekend.

The program will be led by a trio of seniors, Michael Juterbock (Darien, CT), Dennis Winter (Bronxville, NY) and Paul Marchese (East Longmeadow, MA), along with a strong returning class from 2009. Juniors Michael D’Amato (Redding, CT) and Matt Gouveia (Avon, CT) will be asked to serve as leaders on and off the field this year. Sophomores Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, MD) and Evan Hammersley (Lynnfield, MA) will be key contributors on offense.

With the loss of seven key seniors from last season, a number of freshmen will be looking to fill the voids left behind and take Curry Lacrosse to the next level. Coach Batchelor and his staff would like to welcome the following recruits to the men’s lacrosse program at Curry College:

Attack:
Joe Natale - Haverhill, MA – Haverhill High School
Beau Kukura - Erie, CO – Boulder High School
Spencer Reagan - Lake Forest, IL – Lake Forest High School

Midfielders:
Michael Perplaski – Malvern, PA – Great Valley High School
Andrew Navoni – Natick, MA – Rivers School
Michael Vernick – Bethany, CT – Amity High School
Owen Perreault – Sturbridge, MA – Tantasqua High School

Defense:
Marc Fein – East Greenbush, NY – The Forman School

The 2010 Men’s Lacrosse season will kick off at home against Mount Ida College on Wednesday March 3rd. This game will mark the first annual Frost Bite Classic between the two programs, with the winner taking home the Frost Bite Cup.
