MLAX Eliminated From TCCC Tournament After 20-5 Loss at Western New England College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore attacker Patrick White (Milton, MA) scored four goals with an assist and freshman midfielder Corey Johnson (Maybrook, NY) also scored four times to lead the second-seeded Western New England College men’s lacrosse team to a 20-5 victory over seventh-seeded Curry in a quarterfinal round game of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Saturday (May 1).

The Golden Bears (12-5) will host fourth-seeded Roger Williams (a 12-11 winner over fifth-seeded Roger Williams) at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in a semifinal contest.

WNEC started strong scoring six goals in both the first and seconds quarters to take a 12-2 advantage at halftime.

Junior midfielder Anthony Monfredo (West Islip, NY) and freshman midfielder Anthony Bankers (Glastonbury, CT) each contributed three goals. Sophomore attacker Curtis Serafini (Westford, MA) chipped-in with a pair of goals.

Sophomore midfielder Joe Martin (Springfield, MA) captured 10-of-13 face-offs and picked-up six ground  balls along with junior midfielder Marty O’Brien (West Springfield, MA).

Sophomore goalie Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) played the first three periods and finished with eight saves.

Curry received a nice effort from freshman midfielder Joseph Natale (Haverhill, MA) who scored four goals.

Sophomore attacker Evan Hammersley (Lynnfield, MA) had the other goal for the Colonels who end their season with an 8-9 mark.

Sophomore goalie Michael Hibbard (North Chelmsford, CT) stopped nine shots and allowed 13 goals in 39 minutes, 44 seconds.
