Men's Lacrosse Downs Regis College 22-2 in TCCC Season Opener

Weston, Mass.—Curry College’s Sean Gallagher (Topsfield, Mass.) posted a game-high five goals in the Colonels 22-2 defeat of its The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Regis College (0-1, 0-1 TCCC) Saturday. Men’s lacrosse became a varsity sport for Regis College this year.
 
Gallagher also contributed two assists. Curry (4-2, 1-0 TCCC) had 12 different scorers in the game. Michael Snyder (Lee, Mass.) chimed in with four goals of his own along with two assists. Paul Marchese(East Longmeadow, Mass.), Matthew Harlow( Melrose, Mass.), and Kyle Abbott (Ashland, Mass.) all contributed two goals.
 
Harlow also added an assist. Bradford Hastings (Mansfield, Mass.) had two solo goals for Regis. Teammates Derek Brown (Brighton, Mass.) and Tim Wells (Weston, Mass.) assisted Hastings.
 
As a team Curry had 29 shots to Regis’ eight. The Colonels had 16 shots in the first quarter. Its shots decreased over the next three quarters.
 
Gallagher scored his first goal at 14:14 in the first quarter. Marchese assisted, giving the Colonels the quick and early lead. Regis would keep Curry from scoring for almost two minutes until Michael Snyder(Bronxville, N.Y.) posted his only score at 12:46.
 
Neither team had any extra-man opportunities. Curry dominated the face-offs, winning 12-of-17, to Regis’ 5-of-17. It won all three of its face-offs in the fourth quarter.
 
Junior goaltender Gordon Holmes earned the win in net making six saves.  The Prides Andrew LaMacchia made 15 saves in the loss. 

Curry will travel to TCCC opponent Western New England College Wednesday, March 24. Regis will travel to Anna Maria College, a conference opponent, on Wednesday as well.
