Men's Lacrosse Defeated 12-7 by Salem State

MILTON, Mass. – Curry drops second in a row with a 12-7 loss to visiting Salem State.  With the win the Vikings improve their record to 2-1 overall.  The Colonels fall to 2-2 overall.

    Salem State came out strong with a 6-0 run in the first quarter.  The six goals came from Senior Justin Jones who scored one of his four goals on the day, senior Kyle Dolan who scored two of this three, senior Robert Mulroy and junior Jonathan Falls.  

    Curry was able to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter with goals by sophomores Russell Lanham and Evan Hammersley.  Jones answered with a last minute goal in the second quarter to take a 7-2 lead heading into the second half.  

    The second frame brought end to end action as both teams’ netted five goals each.  Mulroy’s second goal of the game at 5:50 of the third quarter proved to be the game-winner for Salem State.  During the fourth quarter Curry was able to cut Salem State’s lead to within five goals but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings held off a 12-7 win.  

    The Colonels were led by Hammersley who netted three goals.   Lanham also scored three and senior Paul Marchese chipped in for one and added three assists.

    Junior Brendan Gill earned the win in net for Salem State making 22 stops.  Sophomore Michael Hibbard made 10 saves for the Colonels in the loss.

    Curry hosts Clark University on Wednesday March 17 with a 4pm face-off, while Salem State travels to Salve Regina University on Thursday March 18 for a 4:00 p.m. start.
