Men’s Ice Hockey Playoff Run Ended by Salve Regina

CANTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 7-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference men's ice hockey playoff semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the Canton Ice House.

With the loss, the Colonels conclude the 2023-24 campaign with an overall record of 20-4-1 and a conference record of 15-3.

Salve Regina was first to score but the Colonels followed close behind when sophomore Killian Rowlee (Fulton, N.Y.) tied the game at 1-1 just 15 seconds after the Seahawk's first goal. He was assisted on the scoring play by junior Alexander Duncan (Andover, Mass.).

On a powerplay late in the first period, sophomore Matt Connor (Nottingham, N.H.) scored to tie the game at 2-2 after receiving a pass from his classmate Grady Friedman (Kennebunkport, Maine). The Seahawks snuck in one last goal before the end of the period to enter the second on top 3-2.

Freshman goaltender Shane Soderwall played the majority of the game in net for the Colonels, making 20 saves in the loss.

All hope is not lost as the #7 ranked Colonels await Selection Sunday on March 4th to see if they are eligible for the DIII NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.
