Men's Ice Hockey Wraps Up Regular Season With Win on Senior Night

Canton, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team wrapped up their regular season on Friday with a 3-1 win over Suffolk. With the win the Colonels finish the regular season 20-4-1 overall, and 15-3-0 in CCC play. The Rams end their season 5-18-2 and 4-13-1.

Prior to the game the Colonels honored their seniors, including team manager Danny Grant, Austan Bellefeuille, Oscar Wahlgren, Roland Polasek, Timmy Kent, Tao Ishizuka, and George Vonakis.

Energized by the pre-game festivities, the Colonels came out fast, scoring just over two minutes into the game When Grady Friedman found the back of the net from Alex Duncan and Wilhelm Patriksson. Six minutes later, Eelis Laaksonen scored on the power play off of passes from Friedman and Gage Dill. Then four minutes later the Colonels made it 3-0 on a Ryan Prewitt goal, with assists from Tao Ishizuka and Laaksonen. That is how the scored remained until the final second of the game, when the Rams got on the board.

All three goalies played for the Colonels, starting with Shane Soderwall. The freshman played just over half the game and made saves on all 18 shots he faced, picking up his 14th win of the season. Then the two seniors made appearances, first with Oscar Wahlgren, who made four saves on four shots, and then Roland Polasek, who made three saves on four shots.

Up Next - The Colonels earned the number one seed in the CCC, and will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs, they will return to action next Saturday against the lowest remaining seed in a CCC Semifinal
