Men’s Ice Hockey Holds Seahawks Scoreless

CANTON, Mass. - Curry College men's ice hockey defeated Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Salve Regina University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in the 7th annual Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend at the Canton Ice House.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 17-4-1 and a conference record of 12-3-0.

Curry scored at least once in each period, starting with a goal by freshman Ryan Prewitt (Abington, Mass.) with three minutes remaining in the first. Prewitt was assisted by sophomores Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) and Killian Rowlee (Fulton, N.Y.).

Dill was next to score with five minutes remaining in the second period, finding the back of the net after receiving the puck from freshman Nolan McDonough (Dorchester, Mass.) to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.

McDonough joined the ranks of goal scorers eight and a half minutes into the final period with the assist coming from sophomore Manny Cabral (El Segundo, Calif.). The final goal of the contest was an empty-netter scored by junior Alex Duncan (Andover, Mass.) with 7:31 remaining on the game clock.

Freshman goaltender Shane Soderwall (Algonquin, Ill.) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making 30 saves to keep the shutout intact.

The Colonels return to action on Friday, February 9th, in a road game against Wentworth beginning at 7 p.m.
