Canton, MA - Despite trailing 2-0 late in the second period, the Curry Men's Hockey team was able to come all the way back, and defeat the number eight team in the country, University of New England, 4-2 on Saturday. With the win, the Colonels are now 15-4-1 on the season, and 10-3 in CCC play. The Nor'easters are now 13-4-3 and 7-3-3.

After a scoreless first period, the Nor'easters got on the board six minutes into the second period with a power play goal. Less than two minutes later, another power play goal doubled the UNE lead. Desperate for some momentum, the Colonels got just that in the form of an Eelis Laaksonen goal with about five minutes remaining in the second period. That would send the game to the third with the Colonels trailing 2-1. The third period was then all Curry, starting with a Cole Weinger goal nine minutes in to tie things. That goal was assisted by Eelis Laaksonen and Gage Dill. Just three minutes later it was Tao Ishizuka who found the back of the net, again off an assist by Eelis Laaksonen, as well as Jacob Crespo. This put the Colonels up 3-2 with eight minutes remaining, and the Nor'easters did not go away easily. They peppered Curry goalie Shane Soderwall with shots, but Soderwall was able to stop each one. With just over a minute remaining, Gage Dill launched the puck the length of the ice, right into an empty net, securing the 4-2 win for the Colonels.

Soderwall was a brick wall in net, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced. Along with his three points, Laaksonen also won 16 of the 22 faceoffs he took. Also making an impact was Ryan Prewitt, as he blocked seven shots on defense.

Up Next - The Colonels will travel to Salve Regina on Friday for a 7:30pm start time, kicking off a weekend series between to of the three teams currently tied for first place in the CCC.
