Men's Ice Hockey Bests Trinity in Sudden Death

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Curry College men's ice hockey team knocked off Trinity College 3-2 in overtime Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Albert Creighton Williams '64 Rink.

With the victory, Curry improves to 6-2-1 overall on the season.

Trinity opened the scoring just under four minutes in, but the Colonels answered late in the frame. Sophomore Taurin Haddon-Harris (Boca Raton, Fla.) got on the board with a shortside shot off the halfboards to knot the score at 1-1. The Bantams regained the lead in the period's final minute to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room.

Captain Tao Ishizuka (Providence, R.I.) tied the score for Curry on the power play early in the second period. He one-timed a pass from sophomore Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) for his third goal of the season.

Neither team would score in the final 37 minutes of regulation, and the game went to overtime.

Just 1:17 into the extra session, sophomore defenseman Nicolas Lariviere (Blainville, Quebec) had his shot flutter into the net off the stick of a Bantam defender for the game-winning goal. George Vonakis (Abingdon, Md.) and Manny Cabral (Providence, R.I.) were credited with assists on the winner.

In net, senior Roland Polasek (Bor, Czech Republic) earned the victory for Curry, improving to 4-1-1 on the season. He stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced in the win.

Next up for the Colonels, they will return to Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Friday evening, hosting Wentworth Institute of Technology at 7 p.m. at the Canton Ice House.
