#15 Men's Ice Hockey Stopped Short by Nichols

CANTON, Mass. - The #15 Curry College men's ice hockey team suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Nichols College Friday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Canton Ice House.

With the defeat, the Colonels fall to 3-2-1 overal on the season and 3-2-0 in the CCC.

Both teams found the back of the net in the first period, as the frame came to an end with a level 1-1 score. Curry's goal was scored by sophomore Manny Cabral (Providence, R.I.), who scored on the rebound at the 11:42 mark. Grabbing assists on the play were sophomores Jesse Galassi (Lockport, N.Y.) and Ben Biester (Danville, Calif.).

Nichols scored the only goal of the second period just over eight and a half minutes in and held on the rest of the way to pull off the upset win.

In net, freshman netminder Shane Soderwall (Algonquin, Ill.) took the loss for the Colonels, despite making 26 saves on 28 shots faced. He stopped all 14 shots he faced in the third to keep the Colonels within striking distance down a goal.

The teams will square off tomorrow at Nichols in Harrisville, R.I. Puck drop is slated for 4:40 p.m.
