#6 Men’s Hockey Defeats Golden Bears 4-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - #6 Curry College Men's Ice Hockey defeated Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England by a final score of 4-2 Saturday evening.

With the win, Curry moves forward with an overall record of 18-4-1 and 14-4-1 in the CCC.

#6 Curry College struck first in the CCC matchup in Springfield, Mass., with freshman forward Taurin Haddon-Harris (Boca Raton, Fla.) finding the back of the net eight minutes in to grab an early lead for the visiting Colonels. Haddon-Harris' goal was assisted by Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) and George Vonakis (Abingdon, Md.). Curry would grab a 2-0 lead eight minutes later on a Mark Zhukov (St. Petersburg, Russia) goal assisted by Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) and George Vonakis.

Western New England found the back of the net for the first time with under a minute remaining in the first period. Golden Bears' Justin Sullivan put his side on the board with a power-play goal sending the conference sides into the first intermission with Curry up 2-1.

The Colonels regained their two-goal lead shortly into the second period, Gage Dill blasting a shot over the shoulder of WNE's Colten Lancaster assisted by Austan Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.) and Jacob Crespo (Mount Holly, N.J.).

WNE netted their second power-play goal of the evening eight minutes into the final period of play. Jordan Giacomin found the back of the net to close in on the Curry College lead gained in the second period. 

Curry College freshman forward Gage Dill notched his second goal of the evening on a shot from Curry's defensive zone, finding the back of an empty net to seal the Commonwealth Coast Conference victory on the road. 

Curry's graduate netminder Reid Cooper turned aside 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the Commonwealth Coast Conference win on the road.

Next up for the Colonels, they continue Commonwealth Coast Conference action Friday evening as they travel to face Suffolk University at 6 PM.
