#15 Colonels Take Down Leopards in Thrilling Conference Action

EVERETT, Mass. - The Curry College Men's Ice Hockey team took down Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth Friday evening in a thrilling overtime spectacle. The Colonels took the contest by a score of 3-2 in overtime.

With the win on the road, the Colonels advance to 9-3-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the CCC. With the loss, Wentworth falls to 3-9-2 overall on their season and 2-7-1 in the conference. 

The contest went scoreless through the first 20 minute period. The hosting Leopards took the lead just over a minute into the second period, Anthony Blad netting the first goal of the contest. Blad was assisted by Jake McKenelley & Sam Milnes on the goal. 

It took the Colonels eight minutes into the third period to find the back of the net for the first time. Senior defenseman Nick Magill-Diaz (Clawson, Mich.) netted an unassisted shot to tie up the contest at one apiece. Four minutes later, the visiting Colonels took the lead. A power-play goal from Eetu Selanne (Coto de Caza, Calif.) put the Colonels up 2-1. Mark Zhukov (St. Petersburg, Russia) & Daniel Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.) were credited for the assist on Selanne's goal.

Just three minutes after the Colonels took the lead, Wentworth equalized scoring on a power-play opportunity. Kevin Obssuth found an opening in the framework past Curry's Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Sask.). Guillaume Bose & George Weiner were the Leopards credited with the assist on the equalizer. The second goal from the hosts forced overtime for the contest.

Curry's Mark Zhukov screamed a shot past Wentworth's Will Oliver following a bombardment of the Colonel's shots in a power-play opportunity just over a minute into the overtime period. Curry's Kalle Sundell was credited on the assist as Daniel Eruzione grabbed his second of the evening. Zhukov's goal would secure the win on the road for the Colonels, granting the ninth win of the season.

Wentworth's Will Oliver recorded 32 saves on 35 shots in the loss at home.

Curry's Reid Cooper tallied 23 saves on 25 shots in the win on the road.

The Colonels get back out on the ice Saturday for a quick turnaround game against Wentworth at the Canton Ice House. Puck-drop is slated for 3 PM.
