Hockey Falls to Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's ice hockey team lost a 3-1 decision to Endicott College on Friday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. The win moves the Gulls to 2-0-0 overall while the Colonels slip to 3-1-0

Endicott was the first to get on the board in the contest as Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.) found the back of the net with 3:23 remaining in the opening period. The assists on the marker were credited to Elliott Clemmons (Rochester, N.Y.) and Parker Schultz (Lombard, Ill.).

Curry scored the equalizer with 24 seconds left in the middle period. Sophomore Austin Whelan (Richmond Hill, Ontario) tallied his fifth career goal coming off assists from senior Matthew Henderson (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Kalle Sundell (Helsinki, Finland).

The Gulls tacked on two goals in the final frame to jump in front. Noah Strawn (Wareham, Mass.) scored the eventual game-winner with 3:18 to go in regulation and Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.) added an empty-net tally with 50 seconds left for the 3-1 final.

The Colonels held a 34-30 advantage in shots on the night. Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.

Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) picked up the victory, making 33 stops in between the pipes for the Gulls. Senior Cody Murch (Raleigh, N.C.) converted 27 saves in the loss.

Curry closes out the home-and-home series with Endicott on Saturday, March 20 at the Canton Ice House. Puck drop is set for 2:50 p.m.
