Unique Weekend Wraps up in Superior

Unique Weekend Wraps up in Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. -- Saturday's action in Superior nearly wrapped up this season's regular season meetings between teams from the East and West Regions.  Just one such game remains and it will come this Tuesday as Geneseo State travels to Adrian for a single game.  While the action in Superior is certainly worth mentioning, and we'll get there, one can watch games such as these and wonder how the East and West fared against each other over the whole season.  Well, the East holds a 8-3-1 record over the West.

MIAC teams account for six of the twelve games and posted a less than stellar 1-4-1 mark.  This is perhaps unsurprising considering the MIAC is a mere 10-34-4 overall in non-conference action this season.  The lone MIAC win against an East Region opponent came on November 24 as Gustavus Adolphus scored a 4-2 win at Williams.  As for the losses, St. Thomas suffered a pair in the PrimeLink to Norwich and Plattsburgh State, while St. Olaf fell at Williams and Babson.

The East holds a 3-1-0 mark over the MCHA this season, with the loss coming just last weekend as Lawrence beat Castleton in the Oswego Pathfinder Classic.  The two wins came by way of a 7-2 Oswego State win over Lawrence in the same tournament, while Curry and Nichols both toppled Finlandia this weekend in Superior.

UW-Superior is the lone NCHA team to face East Region foes this season, which it did this weekend and emerged with a win over Nichols and a defeat at the hands of Curry.
