Davies Notches 200th Career Win and Barlock Scores 100th Career Point as Hockey Downs Salve Regina, 11-2

MILTON, Mass. - In an ECAC Northeast Conference match-up, Curry College defeated Salve Regina University, 11-2, in men's ice hockey action on Thursday night in Milton, Mass,.  The Colonels improved to 12-8-2 overall and 10-1-0 record in the ECAC Northeast, while the Seahawks fell to 5-16-0 overall and 2-9-0 in the ECAC Northeast.  Head Coach Rob Davies earned his 200th career win with the victory.

Despite the Colonels outshooting the Seahawks just 11-10, Curry was able to put up four goals in the first period.  Senior Ryan Barlock (Chicago, Ill.) needed just two points to join his teammate senior Payden Benning (Estevan, SK) on the Curry College all-time career 100-point scorers list.  Barlock scored the first goal of the game just 4:02 into the period.  The next two goals were scored within just 1:55 of the first.  Freshman Jordan Reed (Ajax, ONT) scored the next goal, his first collegiate hat trick.  Sophomore Brad Devereaux (Duxbury, Mass.) registered the second.  Barlock had the final goal to earn his 100th career point.  Reed and senior Ian DeLong (Kutztown, Pa.) both added two assists in the frame.  Senior John Williams (Flourtown, Pa.), juniors Casey Brugman (Winthrop, Mass.) and Brett Kaneshiro (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and sophomore Joshua Pineiro (Huntington, Calif.) each chipped in for one.  Freshman netminder Derek Mohney (Amherst, N.Y.) made all 10 stops to keep the Seahawks scoreless. 

Curry went on to score five more goals in the second period, with Salve getting on the board with just one.  Two of the Colonel’s goals were on power-plays.  Benning took advantage of a man-up situation at the 1:02 mark.  DeLong scored 3:20 minutes later.  Pineiro scored the third for Curry’s second power-play goal.   The Colonel’s took an 8-0 lead on their second power-play goal scored by Williams.  Salve scored their first of the night just 11 seconds later.  Junior William Gomolinski (Western Springs, Il..).  Gomolinski was assisted by junior Jacob Hutt (Menlo Park, Calif.) and sophomore Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, Md.).  Reed finished the scoring in the period on his second.  Curry earned two assists from Mike Kavanagh (Little Neck, N.Y.) and one each from Pineiro, Kaneshiro, Barlock, Devereaux, Benning, junior Connor Hendry (Calgary, Alberta) and freshman Chris Mason (Monrovia, Calif.).  The Colonels outshot the Seahawks 27-8.

In the final frame, Curry put up two more goals for a game total of 11.  Salve was able to score just one more for their second to end the night.  Sophomore Alex Barr (West Milford, N.J.) scored his first on assists by Brugman and freshman Robert Kleiman (DeWitt, Mich.).  The Seahawks goal was registered by freshman Chad Goodwin (Whitinsville, Mass.).  Freshmen Michael Naso (Londonderry, N.H.) and John Scorcia (Hudson, Fla.) were credited with the assists.  Reed had his final score with just 35 seconds remaining in regulation.  Devereaux and junior Greg Fosso (East Meadow, N.Y.) earned the assists. 

The Colonels finished with 55 shots, while the Seahawks had 25.  Curry went 2 for 8 on power-plays and Suffolk 0-8.

Curry's Mohney earned the win in net making 23 saves.  Junior Mike McDonald (Whitby, ONT.) made seven saves to start the game.  Freshman Frankie McCormick (Peabody, Mass.) finished in net for Salve making 37 saves in the loss.
