Hockey Takes Care of ECAC Northeast Rival Suffolk, 4-1

BOSTON, Mass.--  Junior Ryan Barlock (Chicago, Ill.) notched a goal and an assist, while sophomore Robert Dawson (Woodbury, Mich.) stopped 25 of 26 shots in net to lead Curry to a 4-1 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Suffolk Saturday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

The visiting Colonels (11-7-3, 7-1-2 ECAC Northeast) jumped out to a 3-0 advantage after 20 minutes of play on markers off the sticks of senior David Warsofsky (Marshfield, Mass.), sophomore John Williams(Flourtown, Pa.) and freshman Philip Arnone (Litchfield, N.H.) and Barlock's tally with 18 seconds remaining in the middle stanza extended that margin to 4-0 after two periods of play.  Freshman Charlie McGinnis (Hanover, Mass.) accounted for the lone goal of the evening for the host Rams (6-13, 2-7 ECAC Northeast) on the power play that closed out the scoring for the contest.

Junior Payden Benning (Estevan, Saskatchewan) and sophomore Casey Brugman (Winthrop, Mass.) each collected a pair of assists in the win for Curry, which also recevied single helpers off the sticks of senior Ray Nicks (Surrey, B.C.), junior Christopher Atkinson (Spurta, N.J.) and sophomore Ian DeLong(Lions, Pa.).  Junior J. Andrew Wein (Barnegat, N.J.) and freshman James Chamness (Collegeville, Pa.) provided assists on McGinnis's goal for Suffolk.

Dawson made 19 of his saves over the first 40 minutes of action in pitching a shutout for the first 52-plus minutes between the pipes for Curry, while senior Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) and freshman Cam Kelley (Brighton, Mass.) combined for 39 stops in net for Suffolk, with Rose making 29 saves over the first two period of action.  The Colonels outshot the Rams by a 43-26 margin for the contest, including a 33-19 edge over the first 40 minutes of action.

Suffolk heads across town on Thursday evening to take on Wentworth in an ECAC Northeast outing at Matthews Arena that faces off at 7:30 p.m., while Curry hosts Nichols in an ECAC Northeast clash on Thursday evening at Ulin Rink in Milton, Mass. beginning at 7;35 p.m.
