Marlboro, Mass. – Freshman Korby Anderson (Owantonna, Minn.) had a hat-trick including the game tying goal with 5 seconds to play and junior goaltender Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, NY) made 55 saves as Becker College battled to a 5-5 tie with Curry College in ECAC Northeast men’s hockey action tonight at the New England Sports Center.
Becker’s record is now 6-10-3 (3-2-3 ECAC Northeast) and Curry improves to 9-7-3 (5-1-2 ECAC Northeast).
The teams combined for 3 power play goals in the first period. Becker connected first when Korby Anderson’s (Owantonna, Minn.) spin around shot from the point had seeing eyes and made it to the back of the net at the 5:39 mark for the power play goal. Curry quickly responded with an even strength tally of their own with a Connor Hendry (Alberta, Canada) score, assists going to Ryan Barlock (Chicago, Il.) and Philip Arnone (Litchfield, NH) to tie the game at 1-1.
Curry took a 2-1 lead with a power play score from Barlock at 13:47. Just a minute later the Hawks evened the game with a Branden Parkhouse (Rancho Cucamonga, Cali.) blast. But Curry battled back for the fifth goal of the period and a 3-2 intermission lead when Michael Curran (Arlington, Mass.) tipped in a cross ice pass from Michael Lopez (Newton, Mass.).
The Hawks came out storming if the second stanza scoring two quick goals to take a 4-3 advantage. First Anderson scored his second of the game on a nice centering pass from Jeremy Narducci (Apex, NC) and then the same line scored just 28 seconds later on a David Graham (Rancho Cucamonga, Cali.) goal. Parkhouse and Anderson picked up the assists.
The Colonels would not be denied again battling back to score two power play goals to take a 5-4 lead. Ryan Warsofsky (Marshfield, Mass.) scored on a cross pass slap shot from Casey Brugman (Winthrop, Mass.). Less than a minute later they tallied the then go-ahead-goal on a Brugman shot.
Becker returns to action on February 2nd when they travel to Nichols College for a 8:10 tilt. Curry hosts Western New England College on Thursday, February 3rd for a 7:35 p.m. game start.
