Men's Basketball Storms Past Nor'Easters

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Curry College defeated the University of New England by a score of 85-70 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Coach Beaudry's Court.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 8-8 while dropping to 2-6 in conference play.

After a close first half that ended in favor of the Nor'easters, the Curry offense exploded in the second half, as the Colonels managed to outscore the home team by 15 points for their biggest win since the 18-point victory over Canton on November 17th.

Sophomore Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) scored a season-high 31 points to lead all scorers. Romans shot 5-for-7 from behind the three-point line and finished with six rebounds and three assists. Senior Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) was another major contributor, with 20 points and five rebounds.

Sophomore Mustafo Vanjov (Khorog, Tajikistan) had a big game coming off the bench, scoring 19 points in 23 minutes of play while also managing to grab 10 rebounds to finish with the double-double.
