Men's Basketball Knocked Down by Rams

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 79-66 by Suffolk University Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball action at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 6-5 while dropping to a 0-4 record in conference play.

Sophomore Tommy Mallinson (Wilmington, Mass.) knocked down a contested three-pointer halfway through the first half to end a scoring drought for the Colonels. Another bright spot in the half included a pair of back-to-back baskets on drives to the hoop by senior Nick Johnson (Athens, Ga.) and sophomore Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.)

Sophomore Shawn Charles (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Johnson scored early in the second half to get the Colonel offense back on track. The Colonels clawed their way back into the contest, outscoring their first-half total of 18 in just six minutes of play with a jumper by Johnson putting Curry within seven points of the lead (46-39) with 13 minutes left in regulation.

Johnson led the Colonels with 15 points and eight rebounds while Mallinson knocked down three three-pointers to finish with 14 points. Romans had 12 points and five rebounds while sophomore James Scali (Newburyport, Mass.) came off the bench with eight points and six boards.

Curry College returns to action on Thursday, January 4th, in a road contest against Endicott beginning at 7:30 p.m.
