SUNY Canton Can’t Keep Up With Men’s Basketball

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College men's basketball defeated SUNY Canton 82-64 Friday night in the Autism Acceptance Classic at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the win, the Colonels remain undefeated on the season with an overall record of 3-0.

Senior Nick Johnson (Athen, Ga.) got the ball rolling for the Colonels, scoring on a layup and a three-pointer to give Curry an early 5-2 lead. Later in the first half, a dunk by Shawn Charles (Vero Beach, Fla.) gave the Colonels a 20-19 lead, one they would hold for the remainder of the contest.

Curry extended its lead in the second half, outscoring the visitors by a margin of 40-28. The Colonels were paced by Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) and Favour Okeke (East Hartford, Conn.) who each had eight points in the half.

Romans led all scorers with 20 points, earning the double-double with 10 rebounds. Johnson was another significant contributor, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds while Charles added 14 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks. Okeke added ten points coming off the bench, knocking down two three-pointers on three attempts.

Curry College returns to action on Saturday, November 18, to compete at home in the second game of the Autism Acceptance Classic against Salve Regina at 3 p.m.
