Colonels Fall to Wentworth on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Men's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth by a final score of 83-66 in Katz Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Colonels close out the season 5-20 overall this season and 3-15 in the CCC.

Prior to the start of the afternoon conference matchup, Curry College Men's Basketball recognized three seniors in a special senior day celebration. Curry College's Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.), Nick Johnson (Athens, Ga.), and Mike August (Stratford, Conn.) were joined on the court by their friends and family for the ceremony.

The opening half in Katz Gym saw a battle between the two conference sides. Curry's freshman guard Tommy Mallinson (Wilmington, Mass.) notched eight points off the bench as junior forward Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) tallied six points in the first half to stay within six points of the visiting Leopards. Wentworth was paced by Tyler Stewart who dropped 14 points to grant the Leopards the lead heading into halftime.

The second half progressed similarly to the first in Katz Gym. Curry came within four points of the visitors on a Lowelle Torres three-pointer midway through the half. A fast break layup from Angelo Sardegna seemed to bring a spark to Curry's offense late in the second half, however, the visiting Leopards would hold their lead, closing out the contest in favor of Wentworth, 83-66.

The Colonels were led by Angelo Sardegna (16 points, 3 assists), Lowelle Torres (13 points, 4 rebounds), and Mustavo Vanjov (Khorog, Tajikistan) (12 points, 4 rebounds).
