Men's Basketball Knocked Off by Western New England

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team dropped a 92-71 decision to Western New England University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 4-17 overall and 2-12 in the CCC.

Western New England carried a 47-32 lead into the locker room, in large part thanks to 18 points from Tim Restall. Curry freshman Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) paced the Colonels with nine points in the opening 20 minutes.

The second half was tighter than the first, but the damage was already done and Curry could not climb out of the hole. The Golden Bears narrowly outscored the Colonels 45-39 in the period, giving the game its final score of 92-71.

Romans was Curry's leading scorer, matching a season-high with 18 points in the defeat. He also notched nine rebounds to finish a board shy of a double-double. Junior Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) posted 14 points for the hosts, while senior Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.) recorded 12.

Next up for Curry, they will host Suffolk University on Tuesday evening at Katz Gymnasium. Tip-off between the Colonels and Rams is slated for 7 p.m.
