Men's Basketball Defeated by Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team dropped a 74-61 decision to Gordon College in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Bennett Center.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 4-16 overall on the season and 2-11 in CCC play.

The Colonels led by as many as eight points midway through the opening half, but the Fighting Scots clawed all the way back to take the lead before halftime. Curry freshman Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) hit a three-pointer for the Colonels in the waning seconds of the half to cut Gordon's advantage to 36-34 as the teams went to the locker room.

A pair of Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) free throws just under six and a half into the second half saw Curry's deficit cut to just one at 49-48, but Curry wouldn't score again for nearly 10 minutes as the Fighting Scots put the contest out of reach with a 19-0 run.

Torres finished as Curry's leading scorer in the defeat, notching 14 points to go along with four steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Romans was Curry's only other player in double figures, notching 10 points and eight assists.

Curry will return to the hardwood on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff against Western New England University at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.
