Colonels Stopped by Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Men's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Roger Williams University by a final score of 84-65 Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 4-13 overall this season and 2-8 in the CCC.

The visiting Hawks dominated in the opening half of the conference matchup, outscoring the Colonels 40-24. Curry marked 24 points on 30% shooting (9-30) as Roger Williams notched 40 points on 47.1% shooting (16-34). Curry's Lowelle Torres (Vineland, NJ) and Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) combined for 13 in the first half for the Colonels. 

The second half saw an even battle between the conference sides, Curry keeping in pace with the visiting Hawks, trailing by just three points in the half. A Derrick Thomas Jr. (Fitchburg, Mass.) three-pointer late in regulation brought the Colonels within 16 of the visitors but were still unable to catch the lead gained by the Hawks, falling to Roger Williams by a final score of 84-65.

The Colonels were led by Lowelle Torres who marked 25 points and eight rebounds in the conference loss at home.

The Colonels return to the court Tuesday as they travel to face CCC opponent Nichols College at 7:30 PM.
