Men's Basketball Bested by Endicott

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team suffered a 72-62 loss to Endicott College in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday evening at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, Curry moves to 4-12 overall on the season and 2-7 in the CCC.

The teams played a tightly contested opening half, which featured four ties and four lead changes. A game-high 12 points from Curry junior Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) in the opening half was not enough to give the Colonels the lead however, as the Gulls went to the break holding on to a narrow 31-29 lead.

Endicott pulled away in the second half to seal the conference win. Curry briefly tied the score at 33 on a Shawn Charles (Miami, Fla.) jumper 1:07 into the half, but could not jump in front of the Gulls. Torres again led Curry in the second half, scoring eight points to finish with 20 for the Colonels.

Torres was the only Colonel in double figures in the defeat. Senior Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.) finished with eight points, while freshman Mustafo Vanjov (Khorog, Tajikistan) set a career high with seven points off the bench.

Next up for the Colonels, they will return to action on Saturday when they host Roger Williams University at Katz Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
