Colonels Dropped by WNE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Curry College Men's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England by a finals score of 69-89 on the road Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Colonels drop to 4-11 overall this season and 2-6 in the CCC.

The hosting Golden Bears took charge in the opening half in Springfield, Mass. as they notched 45 points to Curry's 25. Curry's Lowelle Torres (Vineland, NJ) led his side with 11 points in the opening half of the conference matchup. 

The second half saw a much more even bout between the two CCC sides, both teams notching 44 points in the period. Curry freshman forward Shawn Charles (Miami, Fla.) tallied six points and three steals in the second half to assist the Colonels in staying in stride with the hosts. WNE's Gavin Greene marked nine points in the second half for the Golden Bears to help his side take down the visiting Colonels 89-69.

The Colonels were led by Lowelle Torres (15 points, 3 assists) and Angelo Sardegna (12 points).

The Colonels return to the court Wednesday as they host CCC opponent Endicott College at 7 PM.
