Men’s Basketball Dropped by Fisher College

BROOKLINE, MA - Curry College Men's Basketball fell to non-conference opponent Fisher College on the road Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 0-3 overall this season.

The two non-conference sides stayed close through the opening nine minutes. A 13-2 scoring run by the hosting Falcons pushed Fisher into the lead, 30-15, with 6:25 remaining in the half. A Shawn Charles (Miami, Fla.) dunk and Timarion Bardwell (Sebastian, Fla.) jumper brought the Colonels back into the action. Two shots from the field by Curry freshman forward Carl Monplaisir (Vero Beach, Fla.) prompted the Colonels to take a timeout, trailing by 10. The hosting Falcons would outscore the Colonels 11-3 to take a 44-28 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Colonels found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring the Falcons 62-57 in the second half. Curry's Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) and Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.) each tallied nine points in the second half as junior guard Frankie Santiago Jr. (New Britain, Conn.) marked 11 points. The hosting Fisher College Falcons would hold back the Colonels sealing the non-conference victory with a final score of 101-90. 

The Colonels were led by senior guard Angelo Sardegna (14 points, 4 rebounds), Lowelle Torres (11 points, 3 assists, 8 rebounds), and Frankie Santiago (11 points, 5 assists).

The Colonels return to the court Thursday as they host non-conference opponent Eastern Nazarene at 5:30 PM.
