Men's Basketball Knocked Off by Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team suffered an 82-44 defeat to Dean College in non-conference action at the Pieri Gymnasium Tuesday evening in the season opener for both teams.

With the defeat, Curry opens its 2022-23 season with a record of 0-1.

Curry was led by junior guard Frankie Santiago Jr. (New Britain, Conn.), who finished the evening with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting and three rebounds. 

The Colonels got eight points off the bench from freshman Shawn Charles (Miami, Fla.), who shot a perfect 4-for-4 in his first collegiate game. He was also tied for the team lead with four rebounds.

Starters Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.), Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.), and Carl Monplaisir (Vero Beach, Fla.) each chipped in six points for the Colonels in the losing effort.

Next up for the Colonels, they will return to Milton for their home opener against Framingham State on Thursday evening. Tip-off from the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium is slated for 6 p.m.
