Men's Basketball Topped by Nichols on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team had five players in double figures, but still came up short against Nichols College by a final score of 103-83 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the defeat, Curry closes out its regular season at 2-23 and 1-17 in CCC play.

Before the contest, Curry seniors Kyle Atkins (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.), Jonathan Joel (Cranston, R.I.), Seth Foley (Terryville, Conn.), and Orlando Ashford II (Sammamish, Wash.), along with senior cheerleader Jessie Hughes (Atkinson, N.H.) were joined on the court by their families and friends for a special Senior Day ceremony.

Curry kept things close for the majority of the opening half, leading by as many as six midway through the period, but the Bison pulled away late to take a 10-point lead into the break at 51-41.

The hosts had no answer for Nichols again in the second half, as the visitors again outscored Curry by 10 to seal the 20-point win.

Curry was paced by sophomore Frankie Santiago (New Britain, Conn.) who closed the day with 14 points off the bench. Also off the bench, junior Nick Johnson (Athens, Ga.) recorded 13 points and sophomore JayQuan Leonard (Plymouth, Mass.) had 12. Foley and junior Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.) finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Next up for Curry, they'll open CCC Tournament play on the road against Gordon on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
