Men's Basketball Downed by Suffolk

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team suffered a 93-61 loss to Suffolk University Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, Curry falls to 2-12 overall on the season and 1-6  in CCC play.

The Rams shot lights out in the opening 20 minutes to take a 51-31 lead into the break. The visitors hit 19 of their 32 field goal attempts (59.4 percent), including five for nine (55.6 percent) from beyond the arc. Keenan Robertson led Suffolk with 13 points in the first half.

Sophomore Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) was Curry's high scorer in the first half, notching nine points and four rebounds.

Suffolk did not slow its roll upon emerging from the locker room, going on a 13-0 run early in the second half to all but seal the victory. 

Colonel sophomore Frankie Santiago (New Britain, Conn.) finished as his team's leading scorer, recording 16 points in the defeat. The evening's leading scorer was Robertson, who closed the night with 17 points despite playing only 14:52. Nate Hale was also in the mix for Suffolk offensively with 15 points. 

Curry will return to the hardwood on Saturday afternoon with a road trip to Wentworth. Tipoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
