Endicott Pushes Past Men's Basketball

BEVERLY, Mass. – Three Endicott College players scored in double figures in an 86-62 victory over Curry College on Saturday afternoon in men's basketball action at the MacDonald Gymnasium.

Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) netted a game-high 19 points and added eight rebounds and four assists to pace the Gulls (0-6 overall). Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) contributed 16 points while Billy Arseneault (Lynnfield, Mass.) chipped in a double double of 14 points and 11 assists. Elms shot 53 percent in the contest and outscored Mitchell 40-22 in the paint.

Freshman Joshua Vargas (Fairhaven, Mass.) led Curry (0-6 overall) with 13 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Angelo Sardegna (Lutz, Fla.) finished with 12 points and seven boards while freshman JayQuan Leonard (Plymouth, Mass.) tallied 10 points, two boards, three assists, and two steals.

the Gulls opened up the contest on a 23-4 run and never looked back. The lead reached as many as 19 in the opening 20 following a layup by Romeo Sowah (Vernon, Conn.). Sardegna would go on a personal 7-0 run to close to within 12, 32-20, with 4:31 left in the half. Curry cut the deficit to single digits in the last two minutes of the half, but Endicott would enter the half with a 39-27 lead.

The Gulls would grow their lead to as many as 28 in the second half after a triple by Louis Ellis (Lynnfield, Mass.) with 4:21 remaining to go up 81-53. Endicott maintained control the rest of the to win its fifth straight, taking the game by a 24-point margin.

Curry returns to action on Friday, March 26 at Nichols College at a time to be announced.
