WENHAM, Mass.—Gordon Men's Basketball erupted in the second half to complete a season sweep of Curry, 88-69. The Fighting Scots led by only three points at halftime, but grew their advantage to as many as 33 points due to a big run in the second half to beat the Colonels at the Bennett Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.

The Fighting Scots led for most of the first half thanks to combination of second chances and the hot hand of sophomore guard Jake Haar (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Gordon's top shooter scored eight of the team's first 10 points en route to a comfortable 16-8 advantage over the Colonels.

Gordon continued to carry an eight-point lead at 29-21 with 6:27 to go in the first when the visitors began to catch fire from behind the arch. Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) and Luke Schreiner (Breezy Point, N.Y.) each made triples during a 15-3 run spanning four minutes of game time, allowing Curry to take its first lead of the game at 36-32.

The Fighting Scots were able to capitalize from the free throw line in the final few minutes of the opening half to spur on a 7-0 run to close the half and held a slight 39-36 edge entering the locker rooms.

Haar caused the most problems for the Colonels, scoring all 15 of his points in the first half while the rest of the Gordon lineup struggled from the field. Curry made six of its 12 attempts from behind the arch, while the Scots could only muster three made treys.

Thorpe-Johnson would not let the Scots pull away at the start of the second half, scoring nine of Curry's 11 points to begin the period and bringing the Colonels to all square at 47-47. However, Gordon went on a 9-0 run in fewer than two-minutes time for its largest lead to that point.

After Thorpe-Johnson converted a three-point play with 13:24 remaining to make it a 56-50 game in Gordon's favor, the Fighting Scots went on a 29-2 run over the next minutes of game time. The Colonels had no answer for Garrisson Duvivier (Brockton, Mass.), who rebounded from a slow start to register 23 points and 16 rebounds for the game.

However, it was Duvivier's defensive game that was just as much help in putting the Colonels away in the second half. The sophomore posted a career-high six blocks and stole four more passes to add to his team lead on the season.

Thorpe-Johnson had an outstanding game for the Colonels with 20 points, while fellow rookie Kieran Carroll (Greenwich, Conn.) posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards. Freshman Vertell Dunham (Jamaica, N.Y.) had 11 points, all coming late in the game.

Sam Johnson (Chatham, Mass.) served up another double-double performance with 12 points and 13 boards. Jake Hart (Allendale, N.J.) had a quiet 11 points to go with five assists, while Josh Ribeiro's (Attleboro, Mass.) strong second half gave him a career-high 11.

Gordon continues to pile up rebounds, extending their positive margin in the category to 20 straight games.

The Fighting Scots improve to 9-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and 12-8 overall. A rivalry showdown with conference-leading Endicott will take place on Saturday at the Bennett Center. Curry dips its mark to 1-19 and 0-13 in the conference. Curry will be in action on Saturday at 3 p.m. as they host Nichols for a 3 p.m. tip.
