Curry jumped out to a big early lead, and never gave it up despite a furious comeback attempt by the visitors in the second half. The Colonels took their biggest lead (45-22) of the opening frame after a pair of free throws by Jackson with 1:17 remaining, and headed into the locker room with a commanding 47-25 edge.
The Gulls rallied after intermission, outscoring Curry 45-22 over the first 15 minutes of the second half, and pulling within two (69-67) after a layup by senior guard Kevin McGuire (New City, NY) with 4:11 left in regulation. Jackson answered back with a layup to put the Colonels up by four (71-67). Curry maintained its lead and went on to post the nine-point victory.
The Colonels were led by Jackson’s season-high output. Senior forward Philippe Jourdain (Cambridge, MA) chipped in with 21 and junior center Rodney Bennett (Mattapan, MA) contributed 10. Jourdain and Bennett shared team-high honors with eight rebounds apiece.
Senior guard Graham Whitelaw (Kennebunk, ME) led Endicott with a team-high 21 points. McGuire and junior guard Mike Rhodes (Amston, CT) added 15 apiece, while senior guard Bobby Montrond (Brockton, MA) scored 11.
Curry qualifies as the #3 seed in next week’s TCCC tournament and will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday February 23 at 7 p.m.
