Football Bested by Utica

UTICA, N.Y. - The Curry College football team was defeated 31-7 by Utica University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Gaetano Stadium.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 1-3 overall on the season.

Both defenses shined in the first half, as a Utica field goal was the only scoring in the opening 30 minutes.

Utica started to pull away with a pair of third quarter touchdowns, and two more early in the fourth. Curry got on the board late in the fourth quarter, when freshman running back Hunter Telesco (New Canaan, Conn.) capped a nine-play, 64-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run.

Sophomore running back Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) was Curry's offensive leader on the afternoon, rushing the ball 14 times for 93 yards.

Defensively, junior Adem Kica (Oxford, Conn.) led the way for the Colonels, notching 13 tackles (seven solo), two tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one quarterback hurry. Graduate student Kevin Peete (Boston, Mass.) and senior Bailey Smith (Wilmington, Mass.) recorded 11 and 10 tackles respectively.

Curry will now enter its bye week, returning to action at home on October 7 against Dean College. Kickoff from Walter M. Katz Field is slated for 12 p.m.
