Football Defeated by Endicott College on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Football fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College Saturday afternoon on Walter M. Katz Field.

With the loss, the Colonels drop to 3-6 overall this season and 1-4 in the CCC.

Prior to the start of the afternoon conference matchup, Curry College Football and Cheerleading recognized 16 seniors in a special senior day celebration. Curry College Cheer's Deanna Kysilovsky (Everett, Mass.) and Dejah Stallings (Salem, Mass.) along with Curry College Football's Maxx Bell (Auburn, Maine), Justin Mullaney (Danvers, Mass.), Tahg Coakley (Danvers, Mass.), Blake Schader (Assonet, Mass.), Greg Silvia (Coventry, R.I.), Billy Lynch (Mansfield, Mass.), Gabe DeSouza (Everett, Mass.), Kevin Decker (Kings Park, N.Y.), Zach Sanderson (Saugus, Mass.), Ny'allen Nunes (New Bedford, Mass.), Brendan Bedell (Londonderry, N.H.), Josias Roman (Brockton, Mass.), Mike Broomstein (Abington, Mass.), and Griffin Malone (Pembroke, Mass.) were joined on the field by their friends and family for the ceremony.

The visiting Gulls marked the first score in the afternoon matchup on a 10-yard Anthony Bracamonte reception, capping off a 4:44, 80-yard drive to put Endicott on the board first. Endicott would tally their second score of the afternoon on a blocked field goal attempt returned 78 yards for a touchdown by Hector Johnson, pushing the Gulls in front 14-0.

The Colonels recorded their first score in the matchup just over six minutes into the second half. Curry College senior wide receiver Gabe DeSouza reeled in a 17-yard Kevin Decker pass in the back of the endzone to cap off a nine-play, 75-yard drive, putting the Colonels on the board. 

Endicott College would manage to mark another touchdown in the final moments of the first half, Anthony Norcia receiving a 19-yard pass in the endzone, sending Endicott into the half leading 21-7. 

The visiting Gulls pushed their lead to 28-7 in the third quarter after an interception by Endicott's Tyler Davis. A Clayton Marengi pass completed to Ryan Freiberger for 14 yards granted the Gulls the 21-point lead. 

With 4:28 remaining in the third quarter, Endicott pushed their lead to 34-7 on a 27-yard reception by Anthony Bracamonte. Following a Curry three-and-out, Endicott took over on the Colonels' 48-yard line, Everett Knowlton III catching a 10-yard pass in the endzone to bring the Gulls' lead to 41-7. A 74-yard pick-six from Endicott's Corey Monteiro granted the Gulls a 48-7 lead with 5:56 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Curry's DeSouza led the Colonels offensively on the day, notching one touchdown with 18 yards on 38 rush attempts. Freshman running back Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) rushed for 34 yards on ten carries, with a long of nine yards. Curry starting quarterback Kevin Decker went 16-of-27 through the air for 89 yards and one touchdown.

Sophomore Adem Kica (Oxford, Conn.) was Curry's leader defensively, finishing with 14 total tackles (six solo) and one tackle for loss. 

The Colonels return to the field on November 12th as they travel to Dudley, Mass. to take on the Nichols College Bison at 12 PM in their final contest of the season.
