James Nyamwaya Chosen as CCC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Curry College senior defensive lineman James Nyamwaya (Andover, Mass.) was chosen Monday as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Nyamwaya had a dominant performance for the Colonels as he tied for the team lead on Saturday with 10 tackles in Curry's 14-7 win over Hartwick. Nyamwaya also recorded 1.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and two quarterback hurries.

Nyamwaya shares the award with Endicott's Tim Russell, who had two inteceptions in the Gulls' loss to Catholic over the weekend. It is the second consecutive weekend that a Colonel was won the award, as freshman Cameron Cruz (Bristol, Conn.) won both the CCC Defensive Player and Defensive Rookie of the Week Awards last Monday.

Nyamwaya and the Colonels will be off until next Saturday, October 2, when they travel to Endicott for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
