CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Curry College football team fell short in its season opener on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 41-7 defeat against MIT at Steinbrenner Stadium.

With the loss, Curry opens its season with a record of 0-1.

Neither team broke through in the opening quarter, but MIT got on the board first 4:25 into the second when Ben Dwyer pulled in the first of four Chris Mauck touchdown passes of the day. Just over four minutes later, MIT extended its lead to 14-0 on a Keithen Shepard touchdown reception.

Curry scored its first points of the season in the final minute of the half, as Chris Jenkins (Hyde Park, Mass.) capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run. The Colonels converted on a pair of fourth down attempts during the drive, including on the touchdown run.

The Engineers ran away with the contest in the third quarter, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to jump ahead 34-7. They would add one more touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the game its final score of 41-7.
