Three Colonels Honored in CCC Football Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Three Curry College football student-athletes have been honored by Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) in its weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Sunday morning. Senior Nick Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y.) was named as the Offensive Player of the Week, freshman Jason Cambra (El Paso, Texas) is the Offensive Rookie of the Week, and sophomore Gregory Silvia (Coventry, R.I.) rounds out the selections as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Juvelier earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after he threw a career-high five touchdowns in Curry's 42-40 loss at Husson on Saturday. He completed 22 of his 39 passes for 305 yards and a 154.2 efficiency rating. Juvelier also added two rushes for 11 yards.

Cambra brings home the Offensive Rookie of the Week title as he had two receptions for the Colonels against Husson and made them count as he registered his first touchdown of his collegiate career. The touchdown reception was a seven-yard catch, while he also had a nine-yard catch earlier in the contest. He also had one eight-yard kick return.

Silvia is this week's Defensive Player of the Week as he tied a season-high with 11 tackles for Curry in a narrow loss to Husson. Five of Silvia's tackles were solo stops and six others were assisted. Three of his tackles also went for losses totaling eight yards.

Juvelier, Cambra, Silvia, and the Colonels return to the gridiron on Saturday, October 19 at Endicott at noon.
