Football Duo Named As ECAC Division III North Players of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – Curry College football student-athletes Alex Corvese (Cranston, R.I.) and Marc Mrozek (Stratford Conn.) have been named the ECAC Division III North Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The duo played a big role in the Colonels' 30-27 victory over UMass Dartmouth as Curry moved to 4-1 on the season.

Corvese brings home the Offensive Player of the Week honors after playing a role in all four of Curry's touchdowns in a 30-27 victory on Saturday. The senior produced two scores through the air as two of his 29 completed passes were for touchdowns. Overall he threw for 377 yards with a 65.9 completion percentage and a 148.3 efficiency rating. He also rushed 13 times, including a pair of touchdown runs.

Mrozek was named the Special Teams Player of the Week as the junior produced six points in Curry's 30-27 win over UMass Dartmouth. He converted his only field goal attempt, a 23-yarder, and also made three extra points. In the punting game, Mrozek averaged 41 yards per punt on three attempts. His longest went for 57 yards and he had one kick inside the 20.

Corvese, Mrozek and the Colonels open Commonwealth Coast Football play on Saturday at Becker at 2:00 p.m.
