DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Curry College cheerleading team finished in sixth place last week in their return to the National Cheerleading Association College Nationals at the Ocean Center.

Competing in the event for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Curry moved up two spots from its preliminary performance to finish in sixth out of 17 teams in the Intermediate All-Girl Division III with 90.2454 points, an improvement of 2.2 points from the preliminary round.

Curry was one of just three teams in the division with no deductions in its final performance.

"The journey that this team endured this year to make sure they could attend College Nationals was a feat they never thought they would have to travel through," said head coach Nicole Lombardi. "Going into day two it was all about doing better than the day before and that’s exactly what they did. Coach Jill, Coach Kate, Coach Marquet, and I are honored to be part of this program and team. We are so very happy for this group of young ladies. While we didn’t bring home the title, we brought home so much more, the power of never giving up. Their fight and determination is one for the books for the history of Curry Cheerleading."
