Lasers Outlast Colonels

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Baseball team fell to non-conference opponent Lasell University 10-8 on Jack Vallely Diamond Thursday afternoon.

With the loss, Curry moves forward with an overall record of 10-22.

The Colonels struck first in the non-conference bout on Vallely Diamond, Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) scoring on a Devin Grove (Cheshire, Conn.) groundout to put Curry up one. An RBI single down the left field line from sophomore first-baseman Tino Gagliardi (Cromwell, Conn.) pushed Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) in to score, grabbing Curry an early 2-0 lead.

Lasell answered back in the bottom of the first, Matthew Bischof notching a three-run home run to right center to put the Lasers on top 3-2.

Curry looked to close in on the Lasers' lead in the top of the sixth inning, Justin Schloss batting in Tino Gagliardi on a single to right center.

Five additional runs from Lasell put the Lasers in front 9-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Curry's Brandon Polanco (Brownsville, N.Y.) got the bats moving for the Colonels in the top of the eighth as he singled to shortstop, batting in Tino Gagliardi, all while beating the throw to first. A two-RBI double to right center from sophomore Tommy Marshall brought the Colonels within two runs of the Lasers. Marshall would notch an additional run for the Colonels on a Devin Grove single to left center, bringing the score to 9-8 in favor of Lasell University.

One additional run from the Lasers in the bottom of the eighth and none from the Colonels in the final inning saw the designated home team, Lasell University, take the non-conference victory on Vallely Diamond Thursday afternoon.

Curry's Tino Gagliardi paced the Colonels with two runs and one RBI on three hits in the loss.

Curry returns to the field Saturday as they travel to face Brandeis University in a non-conference doubleheader slated for 1 & 4 PM.
