Baseball Drops Dean

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Baseball team defeated non-conference opponent Dean College by a final score of 4-1 on the Jack Vallely Diamond Thursday afternoon.

With the win, Curry moves to 8-12 overall on the season and 3-2 in the CCC.

Curry notched the first run of the afternoon non-conference matchup, junior catcher Joan Peralta (Brownsville, N.Y.) batting in Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) to push the Colonels to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Colonels sophomore Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) grabbed Curry a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch by Dean's Dylan Rich.

Curry's Tommy Marshall would bat in the Colonels' third run on the day on a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing Brett Heggs (Taunton, Mass.) in to score and advancing Brandon Polanco (Brownsville, N.Y.) to third. Two batters later, Curry would take a 4-0 lead over the visiting Bulldogs on a Tyler Tran (Westminster, Calif.) walk to first.

One run notched by the visiting Bulldogs in the top of the sixth would not be enough, sealing the home victory for the Colonels, 4-1.

Curry's Andrew Hammer (South Salem, NY) was credited with the win on Vallely Diamond, pitching seven innings with just one earned run and four strikeouts.

Colonels freshman pitcher Justin Schloss (Brooklyn, N.Y.) entered the game in the top of the ninth, facing three batters and was credited with the save in the afternoon matchup.

Curry will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Endicott College for a conference doubleheader set for 11 AM & 1:30 PM.
