Colonels Topped by Vikings

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Baseball team was defeated by non-conference opponent Salem State University 4-1 Sunday afternoon on Vallely Diamond.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 10-18 overall this season. With the win, Salem State improves to 14-15.

The visiting Vikings grabbed an early lead on Vallely Diamond Sunday afternoon with a two-run shot to right-center from senior Zachary Piroh in the top of the first inning, putting his side up 2-0. 

The Colonels answered back in the bottom of the first with a Brandon Polanco (Brooklyn, N.Y.) RBI single through the right side to bring Brett Heggs (Taunton, Mass.) into home, bringing the contest within one run. 

Salem State marked two more runs through the duration of the matchup while holding the Colonels to just four more hits and no runs, taking the contest by a final score of 4-1. 

The Vikings were led by Zachary Piroh who batted 1-for-4 (HR) with two RBIs and two runs.

The Colonels were paced by Brett Heggs who batted 1-for-3 with one run.

Curry College Baseball gets back out on the field Monday (4/25) as they host Lesley University at 3 PM.
