Colonels Swept by Gulls in Conference Doubleheader 

BEVERLY, Mass. - Curry College Baseball was swept by Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College in an afternoon doubleheader on North Field.

With the losses, Curry falls to 10-16 overall and 2-8 in the conference.

 

Game 1 - Curry 2, Endicott 3

The hosting Gulls took an early lead in the afternoon bout, Kyle Grabowski doubling to left-center, pushing Caleb Shpur and Joseph Millar in to score. 

Curry tallied their first run on the board in the top of the eighth inning as Brett Heggs (Taunton, Mass.) scored on a fielder's choice. Freshman centerfielder David DiCicco (Winthrop, Mass.) marked the RBI on the Heggs score. The next at-bat marked another score for the Colonels; graduate third baseman Jared Keller (Oxford, Conn.) batted in Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) on a fly-out down the right-field line to tie the conference contest at 2-2. 

The bottom of the eighth inning saw the winning score by the hosting Gulls. Robbie Wladkowski doubled down the left field line to push Kyle Grabowski in to put Endicott in the lead, 3-2.

The Colonels would be held at two runs through the ninth inning, falling to Endicott 3-2.

 

Game 2 - Curry 1, Endicott 11 (8 Inn.)

Endicott College took a substantial lead in the second matchup of the afternoon, marking eight runs on nine hits through the bottom of the third. 

The Colonels saw their sole run score in the top of the fifth. Sophomore shortstop Ryan Goonan singled to left field, batting in Joan Peralta (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Endicott took the second contest by a final score of 11-1, completing the sweep in the afternoon CCC doubleheader.

 

The Colonels get back out on the field Sunday (4/24) as they host Salem State University on Vallely Diamond at 1 PM.
