Colonels Outlast Bears, 6-3

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Curry College Baseball took down non-conference opponent Bridgewater State University 6-3 Thursday afternoon at Alumni Park. 

With the win, Curry improves to 10-16 overall this season. With the loss, Bridgewater State dips to 18-10 on their season. 

The hosting Bears tallied a run on the board first with an RBI single to right field from senior Jonathan O'Donnel, batting in Jay Wladkowski.

Curry third baseman Jared Keller (Oxford, Conn.) put the Colonels on top with a two-RBI single to left-center to send David DiCicco (Winthrop, Mass.) and Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) to score. 

The Colonels kept the bats alive in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs on five hits. Ryan Goonan batted in Andres Ramos (Sonora, Mexico) on a groundout to third base, positioning Brett Heggs (Taunton, Mass.) to score. The next at-bat saw a David DiCicco double to center field, driving Heggs into home. With the Colonels up 4-1, Curry's Jared Keller marked his second hit and third RBI with a double down the left-field line to bring DiCicco safely into home. 

Curry would close out their scoring in the top of the fourth on a Garett Fosher (Exeter, N.H.) RBI double to left-center, bringing the lead to 6-1. 

The Bears tallied two more runs in the bottom of the eighth but were still unable to catch the Colonels' lead gained in the top of the fourth. 

The Bears were led by Jay Wladkowski who recorded three hits, two RBIs, and one run on four at-bats.

The Colonels were paced by Jared Keller who marked two hits, three RBIs, and one run on four at-bats. 

Curry's Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) (2-1) was credited with the win on the road, pitching eight innings with 10 strikeouts and allowing just three runs. 

The Colonels get back out on the field Saturday (4/23) as they travel to Beverly, Mass. to face CCC opponent Endicott College for a doubleheader slated to begin at 12 PM.
