Colonels Halted by Hawks in CCC Action

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Baseball team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Roger Williams University Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 10-2.

With the loss, Curry falls to 8-11 overall this season and 1-5 in the CCC.

The visiting Hawks took the lead quickly in the contest, Brandon Jenkins marking a three-RBI home run to right-center to bat in Matt Massaro and Tyler Cedeno in the top of the first.

Two more runs in the top of the second granted Roger Williams a 5-0 lead.

The Colonels tallied their first only runs in the bottom of the fifth, senior first baseman Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.) singled to right field to send David DiCicco (Winthrop, Mass.) and Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.) in to score.

Roger Williams' effective pitching staff and defensive personnel held off any further scores from the Colonels through the remainder of the contest. The Hawks would tally five more runs through the ninth inning including a two-RBI home run to center field from sophomore catcher Jack Morin to solidify the victory on Vallely Diamond.

The Colonels were paced by Jason Leonard who marked two RBIs on one hit in the afternoon matchup.

Curry College Baseball gets back out on Vallely Diamond Wednesday (4/13) as they host Eastern Nazarene for a non-conference bout slated for 3 PM.
