Colonels Fall to Bison in Conference Doubleheader

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Baseball team was swept by the Nichols College Bison in a conference doubleheader on Vallely Diamond Saturday afternoon. 

 

With the losses, Curry dips to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in the CCC.

 

Game 1 - Curry 0, Nichols 10 (7 Inn.)

The visiting Bison outpaced the Colonels in the first of the conference matchups, marking ten unanswered runs through seven innings at Vallely Diamond Saturday morning. 

The Colonels were only able to tally four hits while Nichols marked 14. 

Curry's Brandon Polanco (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led his side, batting 2-for-3 with a double.

Nichols' centerfielder DJ Caron paced the Bison with three hits (3 2Bs), two runs, and two RBIs. 



Game 2 - Curry 2, Nichols 12

Nichols College tallied the first runs in the second matchup of the afternoon. An RBI double and a solo home run to centerfield put the Bison up 2-0 through the top of the third. 

The Colonels marked their first run with a Brandon Polanco sacrifice fly to right field, sending Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) in to score. 

Nichols saw six more runs score in the top of the fourth inning, taking an 8-1 lead.

Curry's Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) batted in David DiCicco (Winthrop, Mass.) in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double to mark the Colonels' second run of the matchup. 

Four unanswered scores from the Bison closed the contest at 12-2 in favor of the visitors. 

 

The Colonels get back out on the field Tuesday (4/12) as they host Roger Williams on Vallely Diamond at 3 PM.
