Baseball Topped by Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Curry College baseball team was tripped up by Salve Regina University 11-3 Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Reynolds Field.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 1-2 in CCC play and 7-6 overall.

The Seahawks took control of the contest in the early going, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and one more in the bottom of the second to go ahead 4-0.

Curry got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when senior Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded an RBI single to right field.

The Colonels would single runs in the fifth and sixth innings as well on a Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.) RBI single and a Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.) solo home run respectively to cut the deficit down to 5-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth.

Salve Regina scored five times in the sixth to put the contest out of reach, and tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh to give the game its final score of 11-3.

Curry will look to return to the win column on Friday afternoon, hosting Emerson for a 3 p.m. first pitch from Jack Vallely Diamond.
